Bloom Magazine
Business Intern
Unpaid/Paid (payment considered after first week of work)
Bloomington, IN

Description:
The business intern will have an opportunity to learn about all aspects of magazine publishing and to contribute to the business side of Bloom Magazine. This will include marketing, sales, distribution, subscriptions, issue planning, and event planning and execution. In addition, the business intern will assist with all standard business functions, such as staffing the front desk, filing, accounts receivable/collections, data research/collection, deposits, and correspondence.

Qualifications:
– Solid communication skills (both oral and written), professionalism, and maturity
– Must be able to work independently as well as in group settings
– Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and standard email applications
– Ideally, the intern will own a laptop computer and be able to bring it to work each day for use
– Will be expected to work 10-15 hours a week without pay
– Pay may be considered after the first semester of work

Note: Standard Bloom business hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

812 Magazine
Writer, Photographer, Designer

Description: The product of IU’s Creating an Indiana Magazine (J360) class, 812 Magazine celebrates Southern Indiana – its cities, its small towns, its natural beauty, its rich history, its local food and its creative, friendly people. The class, offered in both the spring and fall semesters, works like a newsroom. Class time will be used to pitch story ideas, discuss content and design possibilities among the class, research topics and post stories online. The magazine is published twice a year with a summer/fall and a winter/spring issue, corresponding with spring and fall semesters respectively.
